Help Violet Have a Special Birthday

Our sweet and brave Violet is turning 4 and will be celebrating another year of beating cancer! This December Violet will have to be in the hospital again for her 19th EUA (exam under anesthesia), MRI, labs, oncology and audiology appointments. Before needing to undergo all of this yet again, we would love for Violet to enjoy a wonderful celebration for her birthday on December 6th. Our hope is to provide this celebration for Violet at the Great Wolf Lodge here in Washington.
If you are new to Violet's story, please feel free to read more here on the blog. We have documented many of Violet's experiences from the very beginning of diagnosis. Violet began fighting for her life against Retinoblastoma (cancer) at just 7 months old. Over the past 3 years, Violet has had to endure many more difficulties than most adults will experience in their entire lifetime. Through all of this, she has kept a happy heart, a smile on her face and she has inspired us all.
Violet story has provided hope to so many families. She gives so much love to other children battling cancer through encouraging packages either brought to the hospital or sent to their home. She also actively takes part in helping make wishes come true for children with life threatening illnesses. Giving to others is such a joy for Violet.
We hope that you will help us make this birthday special for Violet. All monetary gifts collected through our fundraiser link HERE will go directly to the cost of Violet's celebration. As our family continues to struggle from the financial difficulties of childhood cancer, we humble ourselves in reaching out. We are truly grateful for your kind support and for your constant prayers.

Please Join Us In Prayer - CT Scan Tomorrow

I just received the call from the hospital with Violet's appointment time. We will be checking in at 9:30 AM at Seattle Children's Hospital. They let me know the procedure will take approximately 1.5 hours and then recovery from anesthesia will be a few hours. These will be the tests that tell us everything about the stage of cancer. We would love for the tumor to just be gone! If that is not the case, we want to hear that it has not spread anywhere else at all. We want to hear that Violet's life will be saved, her eye will be saved and her sight will be restored. There is a beautiful prayer that went out for Violet by email. We do not even know the wonderful man who wrote it but I thank God for him. The prayer was forwarded to me and I want to share it below: As you have said a personal prayer for the benefit of Violet, lets also come to collective agreement in Prayer for her comfort, healing and above all God's Glory ... Father God, Maker of all things good, c...

Violet's MRI

The day after Violet's exam under anesthesia she was scheduled to begin her next round of chemotherapy. My mom and I went to her scheduled appointment which has always gone like this: labs, appointment with her oncologist and then the chemotherapy infusion. On this day, we were told during her appointment that her ANC had not come up from the previous week so unfortunately, Violet's chemotherapy had to be postponed. Her ANC was in the 400 range and it needs to be over 700 to begin chemotherapy. I was disappointed that there would be a delay in her treatment, but grateful that Violet could get a couple days of downtime before her next appointment. And, this meant that we could go home now and she would get more playtime with grandma! We had a visit over the weekend with my step-mom and my sister from California and it was much needed family time! It was wonderful to watch Violet enjoying more playtime, love and hugs. We were definitely showered with many blessings from them ...

Moving Forward

The last 5 days have been long and exhausting. To say we are overwhelmed would be an understatement. But, you never know until you are in a situation like this how strong you can really be. When we have our moments where we hit our end Josh and I pray together and God reels us back in to start fresh. On Wednesday afternoon Violet came out of anesthesia with no issues and she handled everything she had to go through that day very well. We were very grateful for that. There was a delay in the doctor getting to speak with us after the procedure that made waiting for news that much longer. The nurse brought Violet in to us as we were waiting and I got to feed her. Seeing our baby with an IV in her little hand, the redness of her eyes from the exam and the thought of the radiation she had just been exposed to from the scan was very difficult. When the doctor came in he explained a lot to us. First, he explained there was no indication on the scans that the cancer had spread to her right...
